SEE Workshop GermanyIn 2001 I participated in an international workshop held near the area I grew up. The main industry in the region was and is open coal mining. After the coal has been extracted, huge empty craters remain. The aim is to stabilise the soil around the edges and gradually fill the holes with water. The workshop was to come up with ideas on how to deal with the new landscape of lakes and canals. Today 11 years later, a lot of projects have been implemented. To learn more visit the SEE website.
